If you’ve been creating and selling content online, whether your focus is on educational printables, wall art, or SVG images that can be put on mugs and hats, you know how time-consuming the process can be. Even with the right tools and a ton of experience, it may take longer than you’d like to come up with an idea, design a product, and create a product listing, so shoppers can find (and purchase) it.
Fortunately, there are strategies you can use to speed up the process and increase your profits – because, after all, time is money! Here are 6 proven strategies to get your products from concept to sales in as little time as possible.
#1: Build a Content Creation Toolbox
The first step may take a while, but it can save you tons of time in the long run. You need a set of reliable tools to help you brainstorm, build, and launch products as quickly as possible.
You know I’m a huge fan of AI tools, so my recommendation would be to start there. You can use AI-powered tools, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Grammarly, and some of my tools (AI Printable Automation, for example – look for a link at the end of this post) to streamline almost every aspect of content creation. The key is finding the tools that you love!
#2: Automate, Automate, Automate
Automation gets a lot of attention in business circles, but it’s also at the core of quick content creation. Automation is anything that lets you do the work once and benefit from it many times.
One of my favorite automation methods is creating product templates. With the right template, you can use a tool such as Canva to drag and drop each element of the design and have a ready-to-sell product in just a few minutes. You can also automate product listings.
#3: Turn One Product into Many
When you create a design, you may have a singular product in mind: a journal, a calendar, a worksheet, a t-shirt… whatever you like. That’s terrific, but the result is only one product to sell. What if you could take that one design and transform it into many products?
The great news is that you can do exactly that. If you use a vector format for your design (SVG is an example), you can scale the design to fit on any product of any size. Even if you designed an SVG image for use on a mug, you have the option to scale it up to work on a shower curtain or a large-scale piece of wall art. If you look at Etsy shops that sell print-on-demand products, you’ll see that a lot of sellers do this, and it’s a wonderful way to increase your sales and profits.
#4: Let Bundles Be Your Inspiration
A related strategy is to build products that can be bundled together and sold as a package deal. People love to feel that they’re getting a bargain, so when you give them the chance to get multiple products for one price, they’ll be happy and more likely to add that item to their basket as they browse your shop.
Here are a few examples of product bundle ideas:
- Educational printables that are grouped by subject (history, math, grammar, or music) or by grade.
- A wedding planner with printable stickers, shower invitations, or printable games for a bachelorette party.
- A party pack for a child’s birthday centered around a theme (princesses, dinosaurs, etc.), including invitations, name tags, gift bags, and games.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating bundles, and they’re a terrific way to create products quickly (using a design template or the same image) and increase your sales.
#5: Use AI Wisely
You might not be able to use AI for every element of content creation, but you can use it to do a lot – and implementing it wisely is the key to speeding up the content creation process and getting your products online quickly.
Here are some ways to use AI to speed up your content creation process:
- Research your competitors and find out what products they don’t have (so you can fill in the gaps)
- Brainstorm product ideas
- Generate images to use on your products
- Create content outlines for written content
- Draft written content
- Write product descriptions
- Use Etsy’s AI tools for sellers to fine-tune your product listings or draft quick responses to messages from prospective buyers
Any or all of these shortcuts might be right for you. We encourage you to try them out and create a perfect-for-you AI content creation process. Once you’ve done that, you can use AI to power through the process of creating new content and new products – and watch your sales increase as a result.
#6: Repurpose Old Content into New Products
If you’ve been selling online for a long time, you may have some older products that either aren’t selling well or that you’ve taken out of your store for some reason. Does that mean those products can’t be valuable? It doesn’t! In fact, you may be able to use them as a jumping-off point for something new and exciting that your customers will love.
For example, you might have that won’t work as is, but that could provide a template or idea that you can use now. You could have an image you love that was featured in a product that just didn’t sell, but you can still use it on another product. You might decide that your outdated educational printables are still usable with a little AI-powered research and an update. The possibilities are limitless.
