If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that we’re big fans of using AI to streamline product creation. What you might not know is that Etsy has introduced a selection of AI tools for sellers, and incorporating them into your product creation process can make it easier than ever to fill your Etsy shop with items your customers will love.
Here’s what you need to know.
What Are Etsy’s AI Tools for Sellers?
Let’s start with an overview of Etsy’s AI tools before we explore what they can do and how to use them. When Etsy introduced these tools, they said that they incorporated feedback from Etsy sellers about wanting tools that “respect your voice, your craft, and your control.” That’s as important to us as it is to you.
Title Suggestions and Analysis
The first tool Etsy has introduced provides title suggestions for new product listings. The great news here is that we’re not just talking about the titles themselves. This tool can also suggest tags, attributes, and product descriptions.
What we like about this tool is that it takes what can be one of the more time-consuming elements of creating a new Etsy listing and fast-tracks it, so you can spend more time on product creation.
Etsy’s Writing Assistant
Etsy’s Writing Assistant is designed to help sellers quickly respond to seller questions, which can help boost shop ratings. While the Title Suggestion tool is there for inspiration, the Writing Assistant is all about execution.
The best thing about the Writing Assistant, which is still in the beta testing stage, is that it can write messages that maintain your unique voice and represent your shop perfectly. More exciting is the fact that Etsy reports that conversions are 27% higher when sellers respond to buyer messages before a sale – and this tool can help you do exactly that!
Behind-the-Scenes AI
The first two tools covered here are optional. You don’t have to use them, but using them can save you a ton of time and effort. The final AI tools run behind the scenes and benefit all sellers – and you may already have heard about them!
Etsy uses AI to help in three principal areas:
- Buyer matching uses image searches and smart rankings to show buyers the products they’re most likely to love (and buy!)
- Review highlighting pulls important excerpts from your reviews, often centered around popular themes such as customer service, product quality, and delivery.
- Delivery date estimation uses historical data from your shop to estimate when a buyer can expect their delivery, something that Etsy says builds trust and encourages purchases.
You don’t have to do anything to reap the benefits of these tools. Etsy will do it all for you!
Am I Required to Use Etsy’s AI Tools?
The short answer is that there’s no requirement to use Etsy’s tools to evaluate your product listings or respond to buyer messages. The behind-the-scenes tools are used automatically for every seller, so you’ll get the benefits even if you don’t use the other tools.
We would note that we think it’s a good idea to use the other AI tools as well, or at least to test them out. They can save you time, leaving you with room in your schedule for more product creation – and helping you make more sales.
Tips and Tricks for Using Etsy’s AI Tools for Sellers
Now it’s time to dive into some ways to use Etsy’s AI Tools for Sellers.
Analyze Your Existing Product Listings
The Product Listing tool on Etsy isn’t just for brand-new product listings. It’s a batch tool, which means you can use it to quickly analyze your existing product listings to make sure they’re as effective as they can be.
You can find the tool in your Search Visibility dashboard or in the Etsy app. You’ll need to download a CSV file of your listings. From there, the tool will analyze each listing and make suggestions. You can accept the suggestions as is or customize them to your liking. Then, the tool will help you update all of your listings quickly.
Use the Writing Assistant to Respond to Simple or Repetitive Questions
Responding individually to every buyer message you receive is time-consuming and may be difficult when you’re on the go. Using the Writing Assistant for most messages can save you a ton of time and increase your sales.
Any time you get a message from a potential customer, you’ll have the option to choose the Writing Assistant to respond. Simply click the Writing Assistant icon underneath the message to ask Etsy to generate a message for you. The assistant will pull relevant information from your shop and product listings, and you can review and revise the message before it’s sent.
Refine Your Writing with the Writing Assistant
If you’re someone who prefers drafting your own messages to buyers, the Writing Assistant can still help you! You can draft your message first, then click the “Draft Reply” option to fine-tune what you’ve written.
You can also take advantage of drop-down menus with shortcut instructions for the Writing Assistant. For example, you can ask it to make the tone friendlier, more professional, or even to make the message shorter.
Use AI Tools to Help Etsy Highlight Your Products
Our final suggestion is to use these new Etsy tools to help its behind-the-scenes AI to find and highlight your products.
For example, Etsy uses AI to scan product listings and evaluate everything from first images to titles to reviews. Taking advantage of the new AI tools can help you rise to the top of recommended results, making it easy for AI to highlight your products and match them with the customers who are most likely to buy them. In other words, use them and watch your sales and profits rise!
Take Advantage of AI to Create and Sell Products Quickly
Artificial intelligence is something that can help both new and experienced sellers who want to boost their Etsy shop’s success. Combining two or more tools is one of the best ways we know to become a Star Seller.
